On 16 May 2024, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore, upon her assumption of duty.
Both sides expressed appreciation for the close and cordial bilateral relations in all dimensions and agreed to expand collaborations on trade and investment through the Singapore – Thailand Enhanced Economic Relationship (STEER) and ASEAN economic cooperation framework. They also exchanged views on more cooperations including the real-time cross-border money transfer service (PromptPay – PayNow), AI governance, cyber security, energy security, carbon credit and tourism.
On this occasion, the Ambassador congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister for his additional appointment and expressed hope that Singapore businesses would invest more in Thailand especially in clean energy and renewable energy. The Ambassador reiterated Thailand’s interest to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA) which will support businesses engaging in cross-border digital trade and e-commerce.
