Legalisation and Translation of Documents for Foreign Nationals

Documents submitted by a foreign national must be legalised and translated according to the type and place of issue.

Official documents issued by a Singapore Government authority

The document must first be legalised by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL). After legalisation, the document should be translated into Thai.

Documents issued by a private organisation in Singapore

The document must first be notarised by a Notary Public, then legalised by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL), and subsequently translated into Thai.

Official documents issued by a foreign authority outside Singapore

The document must first be authenticated by the relevant country's Embassy or Consulate in Singapore, followed by certification by a Notary Public and legalisation by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL). The legalised document should then be translated into Thai.

If the original document is in a language other than Thai or English, it must first be translated into English. The relevant legalisation procedure above must then be completed before the legalised document is translated into Thai.

Important: Please complete all required legalisation and Thai translation procedures before arranging an appointment for marriage registration.
