On 25 June 2025, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed Mr. Chaiyapon Suk-ieam, Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs, together with a delegation of representatives from five religions, namely: Phra Sophon Vajiraphon representing Buddhism, and representatives from the Sheikhul Islam Office, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand, the Hindu Samaj Bangkok, and the Sri Guru Singh Sabha, as well as officials from the Department of Religious Affairs. The delegation was visiting Singapore from 25 to 27 June 2025.
On this occasion, the Director-General explained that the purpose of the visit was to exchange knowledge on approaches to fostering interfaith and interracial understanding, and to promote religious relations and cooperation at the international level. The Ambassador gave a briefing on Singapore’s policies aimed at promoting unity and harmony in the society, and provided concrete examples of the implementation of such policies. The session concluded with a Q&A and exchange of views, which served as a useful foundation for the delegation prior to their meetings and discussions with relevant agencies and organizations in Singapore.
