During 30 May to 1 June 2025, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed H.E. Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Thailand, and his delegation during their visit to Singapore to attend the Shangri-La Dialogue 2025. The Dialogue is one of the most important annual platforms for security discussions in the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together senior representatives from around the world.
On this occasion, the Ambassador attended the address delivered by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence on 1 June 2025, on the topic of “Cross-Regional Security Interlinkages.” In his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the crucial role of regional security mechanisms such as ASEAN, ADMM, and ADMM-Plus, and reaffirmed Thailand’s support for a rules-based international order. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation to safeguard undersea infrastructure against emerging threats, and advocated for the ethical use of artificial intelligence in military applications in accordance with international law. Additionally, Thailand proposed expanding military medical cooperation for disaster response and promoting cross-regional interlikages in political, economic, and security dimensions to support the development of an open, inclusive, and sustainable security architecture.
The Ambassador also participated in a bilateral meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Thailand and H.E. Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Defence of Singapore, on 31 May 2025 and later hosted a luncheon in honour of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and his delegation on 1 June 2025 at the Ambassador's residence.
