On 19 August 2026, H.E. Mrs. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Singapore, attended the opening session of the ASEAN Strategic Policy Dialogue on Disaster Management (SPDDM) 2026 at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay. The Dialogue was co-organised by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the ASEAN Secretariat, and the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre), with Mr. Edwin Tong, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs of Singapore, as the Guest of Honour at the opening session.

SPDDM serves as a platform for policymakers and experts from ASEAN Member States and relevant partners to exchange views and strategic perspectives on the evolving disaster and humanitarian landscape in the region, as well as ways to strengthen ASEAN cooperation and capabilities in disaster management and humanitarian response.

On this occasion, Ambassador Waraphannee met and exchanged views with Mr. Chairat Kaewpiangpen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, who led the Thai delegation to the Dialogue, as well as Ms. Sakawrat Somsakulrungrueang, Secretary-General of the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, both of whom participated in the Dialogue as representatives of Thailand.
