On 27 March 2026, Mrs. Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., attended the ASEF Open Day organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF). The event, held for the first time, aimed to raise awareness of ASEF’s role and mission as a bridge between Asia and Europe. Ambassador Beata STOCZNSKA, Executive Director, and Mr Zhang Lei, Deputy Executive Director of ASEF, delivered remarks during the opening session, highlighting the organisation’s role and the importance of Asia–Europe cooperation.
On this occasion, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. spoke on Thailand’s role in Asia–Europe relations and presented a traditional Thai dance performance, “Ton Worachet,” as a contribution to the event from the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore to promote the event’s cultural vibrancy and Thailand’s participation.
The performance represents the cultural traditions of Central Thailand and features melodies influenced by the Portuguese, who were among the first Europeans to arrive in Thailand in the early 16th century. It reflects the long-standing connections and relationship between Asia and Europe.
ASEF is an organisation under the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), with a mandate to promote mutual understanding between the two regions and to support Track II cooperation across seven key areas: education, culture, governance, public health, media, economics, and sustainable development.
