On 17 April 2026, Mrs. Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, welcomed Rear Admiral Sunsearn Sadod, Commander Task unit Kakadu 2026 (H.T.M.S. Naresuan), on the occasion of the vessel’s stopover at Changi Naval Base for logistical support while en route back to Thailand, following the completion of the multilateral Exercise KAKADU 2026 in Australia, in which fourth-year naval cadets also participated.
On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on key issues, including Thailand’s participation in Exercise KAKADU 2026, the impact of rising energy prices, maritime security particularly developments in the South China Sea as well as broader regional security concerns and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. They also discussed avenues for enhancing cooperation with Singapore, particularly in capacity-building and the training of naval personnel.
