On 9 April 2026, Mrs. Suwannee Arunsawadiwong, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore, attended a reception aboard H.T.M.S. Angthong at Changi Naval Base. The event was held on the occasion of H.T.M.S. Angthong and H.T.M.S. Prachuap Khiri Khan bringing naval cadets to Singapore for their sea training exercise. Rear Admiral Chalit Buathong, Royal Thai Navy, Commander of the Royal Thai Naval Cadet Training Unit, presided over the ceremony.

On this occasion, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. delivered remarks during the opening ceremony, highlighting that the visit to Singapore provides an opportunity for the cadets to learn about the history of the vessel, which was built in Singapore, as well as Singapore’s role as a key maritime hub in the region. The visit also promotes exchanges between the Royal Thai Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy, thereby strengthening mutual understanding, professional ties, and future cooperation, which are particularly important in the context of today’s increasingly complex maritime security environment.
