On 5 August 2015, Mr. Chairat Sirivat, the Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Mrs. Thanaporn Siritemkul, Minister-Counsellor (Labour Affairs) and Miss Vowpailin Chovichien, First Secretary on Consular Affairs, gave a briefing to the participants from Nursing Colleges in Thailand who visited Singapore on the Executive Nursing Management Course organised in Singapore in collaboration with Temasek Holdings on Assisting Thai Community in Singapore on Health Issue programme. In brief, Mrs. Thanaporn Siritemkul, Minister-Counsellor (Labour Affairs) explained that the labour force from Thailand was permitted to work in Singapore in 3 main areas, which were construction, shipyard and oil refinery. These occupations must work hard and should work overtime which may cause serious health problems. Moreover, currently, the average age of Thai workers in Singapore were increasing compared to the past 5 years. However, the Royal Thai Embassy and Office of Labour Affairs in Singapore have continuously visited Thai workers’ camps with medical doctors to educate the Thai labour on how to stay healthy in the hard working environment.
