On 21 February 2023, Associate Professor Dr. Jomphong Mongkhonvanit, Vice President and Dean of the Graduate School of Business, Siam University, Mr. Worapoom Saengkaew, PhD Student and Doctoral scholarship holder under the National Research Council of Thailand, as well as lecturers and researchers from the Institute of Adult Learning, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Chutintorn Gongsakdi to update the progress of Mr. Saengkaew’s doctoral research project on adult learning. During the discussion, they exchanged views on various issues, including retention and re-integration of older workers into the labour market, reskilling and upskilling initiatives for the elderly workforce, as well as extension of the retirement age. Adult learning and lifelong learning have become an important agenda for many countries with an aging population, including Thailand and Singapore. The issues are also discussed in many international organisations such as UNESCO and ILO.
