His Excellency General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, is currently in Singapore for an introductory visit at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam. On 4 June, DPM Tanasak called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, had a meeting with, and was hosted to dinner by Minister Shanmugam.

Both Prime Minister Lee and DPM Tanasak reaffirmed the excellent and longstanding bilateral relations, and noted that 2015 marks the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. DPM Tanasak updated Prime Minister Lee on domestic developments in Thailand. On regional issues, both leaders discussed the threat of international terrorism, including the influence of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), and the need for countries to work together to combat the issue.

At the meeting between Minister Shanmugam and DPM Tanasak, both Ministers expressed confidence in the strong and multifaceted relations between Singapore and Thailand. The Ministers also discussed the various commemorative projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and ways to further strengthen the strong people-to-people ties.
