NON-IMMIGRANT VISA-O-A (LONG STAY)

 

  1. Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O-A” (long stay/retirement)

Purpose of Visit: This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and above who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 1 year without the intention of working. Holder of this type of visa is allowed to stay in Thailand for 1 year. Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited.
 
Please note that Non-Immigrant Visa-O-A (Long Stay/Retirement) will only be granted by the Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore, to Singaporean citizens and Singapore’s Permanent Residents. 

 

         -Eligibility-

  1. Applicant must be aged 50 years and over (on the day of submitting application)
  2. Applicant does not have a criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality or residence
  3. Applicant must have a nationality of or residence in the country where the visa application is submitted
  4. Applicant does not have prohibitive diseases (Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535

 

  1. Application for Non-immigrant O-A

Embassy’s Online Visa Application (OVA) http://visaonline.thaiembassy.sg/

          2.1 Required documents for visa application (submission online is required) at least 21 working days before the intended date of travel

                2.1.1   Singapore Indentification Card and Singapore Re-Entry Permit Form 7 (for Singapore’s Permanent Residents) 
                2.1.2   A passport valid for no less than one year and half.
                2.1.3   Summary of the applicant’s personal data (CV/Resume)
                2.1.4   A letter from the bank verifying the amount of deposit in the bank account of no less than 800,000 Baht (or equivalent).
                2.1.5   A Letter of verification stating that the applicant has no criminal record issued from the country of his/her nationality or residence. Such verification must be valid for no more than 3 months.
                2.1.6   A medical certificate showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14(B.E. 2535) certificate shall be valid for not more than three months Click here 
                2.1.7   Additional health insurance requirement for Non-Immigrant O-A as follows;

                     Health Insurance issued by a Thai or foreign insurer for general illnesses, including COVID-19, with the insured sum of no less than 100,000 USD or 3,000,000 THB 

                     This Health insurance policy document which is issued by a Thai or foreign insurance company, should states that the applicant is medically insured for the period of at least 1 year and with coverage amount as mentioned above;

                      (a) In case of a Thai insurance company, the applicant must submit 1 copy of the insurance policy document. A list of Thai insurance companies participating in the scheme can be found here: http://longstay.tgia.org 

                       (b) In case of a foreign insurance company, the applicant must submit 1 copy of the insurance policy document together with the Foreign Insurance Certificate as stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and Health Insurance of Thailand. The Foreign Insurance Certificate must be completed, signed and stamped by the insurance company. The form can be downloaded here.

                2.1.7   Application fee:  SGD$250 cash for Multiple Entries valid for One Year (Cash only in Singapore Dollars – Non-refundable)    

                2.1.8   Flight ticket to Thailand

 

Dependents of holders of O-A

             In the case that the applicant wishes to have his/her spouse staying together in the Kingdom but the spouse is not qualified for the O-A category visa on his or her own capacity, the legally married spouse is eligible to apply for Single-Entry Non-Immigrant O visa.

Required documents :

            - the same required documents as for Non-Immigrant O-A-visa 

            - plus marriage certificate (Document issued by Non-Thai and Non-Singaporean Authorities MUST be certified by its Embassy prior to submission). Civil partnership certificate is not accepted.

           A copy of bank statement has to show the amount of another 800,000 Baht (or equivalent) in addition to the applicant’s initial amount).

Recommendations for the Alien While Staying in the Kingdom: 

  1. When completing the say of 90 days in the Kingdom, the alien shall report to the competent authority and report it every 90 days with the immigration officer in the alien’s residence area, or report to the police station in the alien’s residence if there is no immigration control there.

In order to report to the competent authority by mail, the alien shall do as follows:

The Report Form (referred to in Thai as Tor Mor 47) together with a copy of the passport pages showing the alien’s photograph, personal details, and the latest arrival visa stamp as well as a self-addressed envelope with postage affixed, shall be forwarded, by 7 days before the due date, by acknowledgement of receipt mail to the Immigration Bureau, Sathon Tai Road, Sathon District, Bangkok 10120. 

In the case of conducting any following reports, the Reply Form for the previous Report shall be enclosed as well. 

  1. At the end of the one-year stay, the alien who wishes to extend his/her stay shall submit a request for the extended period at the Immigration Bureau with documented evidence of money transfer, or a deposit account in the Kingdom, or an income certificate plus a deposit account at the total amount of no less than 800,000 Baht a year. 
  2. If the alien’s spouse wishes to extend his/her stay as well, the marriage certificate shall be produced.
