 Non-Immigrant Visa Category “O-X” (long stay/Retirement)


        Purpose of Visit: This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 10 year without the intention of working. Holder of this type of visa is allowed to stay in Thailand for 5 years each time (total 10 years). Employment of any kind is strictly prohibited.
 
 
                     -Eligibility-
 
          1. Applicant must be aged 50 years and over (on the day of submitting application)

          2. Applicants must be nationals and passport holders of eligible countries, namely; Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Canada and United States.

          3. Applicant must have a bank deposit of no less than 3 million baht in Thailand or a bank deposit of no less than 1.8 million baht and annual income of no less than 1.2 million baht. Such amount must be maintained in bank deposit in full for at least one year, and keep at no less than 1.5 million baht thereafter.

          4. Applicant must have a Thai health insurance for the duration of stay, with coverage for outpatient treatment of no less than 40,000 baht and inpatient treatment of no less than 400,000 baht.

          5. Applicant not prohibited from entering the Kingdom as provided by the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979)

          6. Having no criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality and residence.

          7. Not having prohibitive diseases (Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535
 

2.  All required documents for both visa and COE application (listed below in no. 4.2 and 4.3) must be submitted through the Embassy’s Online Visa Application (OVA) at least 10 working days before the intended date of travel

    2.1 Required documents for visa application (submission online is required)

2.1.1 Passport: must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel

2.1.2 One (1) biography form

2.1.3 A copy of bank statement from Thailand financial institutes and a letter of guarantee from the bank with bank’s contact information showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 3 Million Baht. (Please note that such minimum amount must be maintained at least 1 year after receiving the visa) or A copy of bank statement (from financial institutes located in Thailand only) and a letter of guarantee from the bank with bank’s contact information showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 1.8 Million Baht and proof of annual incomes of not less than 1.2 Million Baht. Once the applicants enter Thailand, they must have accumulated money deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand not less than 3 million Baht within 1 year.  

2.1.4 A Letter of verification stating that the applicant has no criminal record issued from the country of his/her nationality or residence. Such verification must be valid for no more than 3 months (Download form);

2.1.5 A medical certificate showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14(B.E. 2535) certificate shall be valid for not more than three months Click here 

2.1.6 Additional health insurance requirement for Non-Immigrant O-X

Effective from 31 October 2019, the applicant must be medically insured for the entire period of stay in Thailand with the following coverage:

                     – Outpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 40,000 THB, and

                     – Inpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 400,000 THB

                      The applicants must submit the following:

Health insurance policy document issued by a Thai or foreign insurance company, stating that the applicant is medically insured for the period and with coverage as mentioned above:

(a) In case of a foreign insurance company, the applicant must submit the original insurance policy document with 2 copies;

                                           (b) In case of a Thai insurance company, the applicant must submit 2 copies
                                           of the insurance policy document or, if available, the original insurance
                                           policy document with

Foreign Insurance Certificate as stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and Health Insurance of Thailand, which must be completed, signed and stamped by the insurance company. The form can be downloaded here: Form

2.1.7 Singapore Blue IC and Re-Entry Permit Form 7 (for Singapore’s Permanent Residents)

2.1.8 Application fee: 450 Singapore Dollars (Cash only– Non-refundable)

     2.2 A copy of health insurance covering all expenditures of medical treatment including COVID-19 for the entire period of stay in Thailand at the amount of at least 100,000 USD.

      2.3 A copy of flight ticket(s)
