On 20 March 2023, Ambassador Chutintorn Gongsakdi participated in an online meeting with the Sub-Committee on Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine, under the Senate Committee on Public Health of Thailand, chaired by Senator Pisan Manawapat. From Singapore side, Mr. Tay Choon Hong, Chief Executive Officer of the Health Promotion Board (HPB), Ms. Delia Teo, Director of Population Health Planning Office, Ministry of Health, Singapore, as well as Dr. Num Tanthuwanit, Partner, Health, Ernst & Young Singapore, joined the meeting to exchange views on Singapore’s efforts and experiences in promoting preventive health through the ‘Healthier SG’ initiative.
 
On the occasion, the Ambassador provided an overview on Singapore’s healthcare system and relevant strategies in fostering health promotion and preventive care in Singapore. Ms. Teo exchanged information on Healthier SG initiative, which is a multi-year population health strategy to transform Singapore’s healthcare system with a strong emphasis on preventive care. The representatives from HPB exchanged views and experiences on HPB’s strategic approaches towards health promotion, especially through fostering strong whole-of-society partnerships. Moreover, Dr. Tanthuwanit, an experienced doctor who worked in Thailand, Australia, and Indonesia and is currently working in Singapore, also shared his insights about Thailand’s and Singapore’s policies on public health.
The discussions with the Sub-Committee on Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine will be reported to the Senate Committee on Public Health as policy recommendations for the Government to promote population health and foster preventive care in Thailand.
