On 13 February 2025, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, hosted a reception “Celebrating 60 Years Shared Journey of Thailand and Singapore” at the Royal Thai Embassy. The reception was organised to kick off the series of events and activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Singapore in 2025. Mr. Loy Hui Chien, Director-General, Southeast Asia II Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, attended the event as Guest of Honour, with more than 150 participants including representatives from government and private agencies, business leaders from Thailand and Singapore, as well as representatives from the Thai communities in Singapore.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Ureerat highlighted the long-standing relationship between both nations, with Singapore as Thailand’s top investor in 2024. She also outlined key upcoming events, including the high-level visits, the 7th STEER Meeting in March and the 15th CSEP in June, and a seminar.
Mr. Loy Hui Chien emphasized strong economic cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and digital transformation, citing the success of PromptPay-PayNow cross-border payments and future collaborations in green energy.
