On 19 May 2025, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, as a distinguished guest, witnessed the signing ceremony of a Mutual Recognition Agreement between the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) and the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI). The agreement was signed by Dr. Wijarn Simachaya, President of TEI, and Mr. Cheang Kok Chung, Executive Director of SEC, at Paradox Singapore Merchant Court. The event was honoured by the presence of Mr. Lim Teck Kiat, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, and Ms. Isabella Huang-Loh, Chairperson of the Singapore Environment Council.
On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed her appreciation, noting that the signing of this agreement reflected a shared vision between Thailand and Singapore to promote sustainable production and consumption, enhance environmental standards, and advance environmentally friendly trade. She also expressed hope that the agreement would serve as a starting point for broader regional cooperation on environmental issues and contribute to ASEAN’s long-term green agenda.
