On 13 May 2024, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, delivered the opening remarks at the Singapore-Thailand Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) on Climate Change and Its Impact on Environment and Health. The program was attended by participants from ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Viet Nam.
During her address, Ambassador Ureerat emphasized Thailand's commitment to enhancing global health systems and ensuring equitable access to healthcare through the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and international partners. She highlighted the critical need to understand and address the impacts of climate change, such as emerging diseases, migration patterns, and urban planning. She encouraged attendees to utilise and share this information to foster positive change and highlighted the importance of the connections built among participants during the course.
Mr. Tang Weng Chau, Deputy Director of Technical Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, delivered a welcoming remarks expressing his hope that the programme would provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the tools and techniques to explore the linkages between climate change and human health, as well as effective ways to communicate these findings to policymakers and the public.
The Singapore-Thailand Third Country Training Programme is a collaborative effort that brings together experts from both nations to share best practices and lessons learned. This initiative underscores the shared commitment of Thailand and Singapore to addressing the urgent global issues of climate change and its impact on health.
