On 14 May 2024, Ms. Thitapha Wattanapruttipaisan, Director of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Singapore Office, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, to introduce the WIPO Office and discuss potential collaborations on intellectual property.
The WIPO Singapore Office has set up in 2005 to help mediating intellectual property (IP) arbitration process between businesses in Southeast Asia. It has been organizing several IP training programmes for businesses and industries in many countries in the region.
Both sides discussed ways to raise awareness on the importance of IP, including registration process and verification of ownership.
Ambassador Ureerat reiterated the importance of IP and initiatives to raise more awareness of IP among the Thai businesses. The Embassy is keen to organize a joint activity with WIPO Singapore Office to strengthen IP awareness for Thai businesses in Singapore.
