On 27 July 2024, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore was invited by the Saturday Movement, a charity organization in Singapore that runs activities to support the vulnerable and elderly, to attend a charity Gala Dinner organized by the Movement. This year, the event focused on promoting Peranakan culture. Selected well-known chefs with Peranakan food expertise from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore were invited to cook Peranakan dishes for the guests. For Thailand, Chef Somboon and Chef Rattanawalee from “Krua Kao Kuk” in Phuket Province were invited to cook at the Gala Dinner. This event laid a strong foundation for future collaboration between the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore and the Saturday Movement in organizing volunteer projects and activities on relevant occasions.
