On 3 March 2014, H.E. Mr. Marut Jitpatima, Ambassador of Thailand, attended the Opening Ceremony of Temasek-Tan Tock Seng Hospital Nursing Specialists Programme at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The two-week training course on Nursing Care and Management, which is held on 3 - 14 March 2014, is part of a series of training programmes for doctors and nurses co-organised by Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Temasek Foundation, in response to an initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand. Since 2012, a series of courses have been organised for Thai nurses. Last year alone, 6 groups of nurses from various parts of Thailand attended similar programmes at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
On this occasion, Ambassador of Thailand, along with Professor Philip Choo, CEO of Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Mr. Benedict Choong, CEO of Temasek Foundation, and Mdm Nirmala Bte Karmaroon, Deputy Director of Tan Tock Seng Hospital Nursing, welcomed 20 participants from King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and Faculty of Nursing, Thai Red Cross. While Ambassador of Thailand stressed that the Nursing Specialists Programme is testimony to the late Mr. Tan Tock Seng’s philanthropic spirit and Temasek Foundation’s legacy in enhancing public welfare, not only in Singapore, but also for the world, CEOs of Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Temasek Foundation both emphasized on a long-standing relationship between Singapore and Thailand and the mutual benefits gained by two-way exchange of knowledge, best practices and experiences during the Programme.
Throughout the period of the Nursing Specialises Programme, Ambassador of Thailand will also host dinner for the Thai participants and the coordinator from Tan Tock Seng Hospital at his Residence for 7 days in total.
The next group of nurses from Mahidol University and Siriraj Hospital is scheduled to attend a similar course with focus on the area of Neurology Nursing on 31 March - 11 April 2014.
