Reception to celebrate The 87th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the national day reception of the Kingdom of Thailand

On 1 December 2014, 18.30 hrs, the Royal Thai Embassy, Singapore, hosted the Reception to celebrate the 87th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the National Day Reception of the Kingdom of Thailand, at InterContinental Singapore. The event was joined by Mrs. Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport, as the Guest of Honour. It was well attended by approximately 500 guests, including Mr. Zainudin Nordin and Mr. Hri Kumar Nair, Members of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh Representation Constituency, and Rear Admiral Lai Chung Han, Chief of Navy of Singapore, high-level representatives from organisations and agencies in Singapore, Ambassadors and diplomats, as well as representatives from the Thai private sector in Singapore. 

On this occasion, Ms. Ekajit Kraivichien, Chargé d'Affaires, delivered a speech on His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s life-time dedication to the peoples of Thailand, Thailand’s political stability, and close bilateral relations between Thailand and Singapore, which will be further strengthened in 2015 as Thailand and Singapore celebrates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and the official start of ASEAN Community. In response to Chargé d'Affaires’ speech, Mrs. Josephine Teo reaffirmed the close relationship between the two countries, including exchange of visits, as well as economic and social cooperation. 

The event featured a special documentary on His Majesty the King’s royal projects and life-time dedication to the peoples of Thailand, with a book of well wishing for our guests to sign. It also included a Thai tourism promotion documentary, and demonstration making beautiful flower garlands, presented by the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Singapore, given as souvenirs to all guests at the end of the Reception, as well as a live music show by a band of Thai students at National University of Singapore. The reception was complemented with the finest selection of Thai food from the Thai Chef Association in Singapore.
