The Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore hosted a grand reception on Tuesday, 5th December 2023, at The Fullerton Bay Hotel to commemorate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, and Thailand’s Father’s Day. The event was graced by Mr. Desmond Tan, Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, as the Guest of Honour.

Mrs. Chonlatee Chanrachakul, the Charge d’Affaires, a.i., of the Kingdom of Thailand, delivered a warm and engaging speech, highlighting the significant ties between Thailand and Singapore. She emphasized the pivotal role of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great as the "Father of the Nation." and shed light on the historical roots of Thai-Singapore relations, dating back to King Chulalongkorn's visit in 1871.

Acknowledging the growing people-to-people ties, the Charge d’Affaires, a.i., noted the thriving Thai community in Singapore. She reiterated Thailand’s commitment to elevate Thailand’s presences and visibility in the world stage through "Proactive Diplomacy," in order to achieve economic resilience.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Desmond Tan, highlighted the enduring relationship between Thailand and Singapore. He underlined the historical and robust military ties between the two nations. Mr. Tan looked forward to welcoming Thailand to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA) and commended Thailand’s role in the ASEAN Power Grid.
