On 27 July 2014 at 16.00pm, H.E. Mr Marut Jitpatima, Ambassador of Thailand represented by Ms Ekajit Kraivichien, Deputy Chief of Mission alongwith Ms Kasama Suebwises, Minister Counsellor and Ms Ponpat Thitthongkham, First Secretary, hosted a tea reception for Tan Tock Seng Family at the Royal Thai Embassy. The tea reception was participated by 67 members of the Tan Tock Seng Family from Singapore and other countries like Malaysia, Australia, United States of America.

Ms Ekajit gave a remark welcoming members of Tan Tock Seng Family to the Royal Thai Embassy. She acknowledged the close ties that Mr Tan Kim Ching and his father, Mr Tan Tock Seng had with Thailand since the era of His Majesties King Mongkut and King Chulalongkorn. Mr Tan Kim Ching was designated as the first Thai Consul to Singapore and he also facilitated King Chulalongkorn in the purchase of land on Orchard Road where the current Royal Thai Embassy premise is located. The Embassy is therefore pleased to have members of Tan Tock Seng Family visiting the Embassy as this historic landmark reflects the long-standing relations that Thailand has with the Tan Tock Seng Family. After Ms Ekajit’s remark, Mr Roney Tan, on behalf of the Tan Tock Seng Family, presented, through Ms Ekajit, a token of appreciation to Ambassador Marut and the Royal Thai Embassy for hosting this memorable event.
