On Wednesday, 17th April 2024, H.E. Ms. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, hosted a reception at the Ambassador’s Residence to welcome the visit of Ms. Elizabeth Yee, Executive Vice President of Programs, Rockefeller Foundation, to Singapore. This gathering served as a pivotal convergence of like-minded partners committed to the advancement of global sustainability objectives. Discussions were centered on crucial themes such as advancing universal access to quality food, alleviating energy poverty, and fostering economic opportunity.
In her welcoming remarks, Ambassador Ureerat emphasized the enduring impact of the Rockefeller Foundation, especially in healthcare and educational development, as the Foundation approaches its 60th anniversary of presence in Thailand next year. Ms. Elizabeth Yee also expressed gratitude to the Ambassador’s pivotal role in fostering development relationships and capitalizing on emerging frontiers to drive progress and innovation in Thailand, both in the present context and during her previous tenure as Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA).
The Rockefeller Foundation established its regional headquarters in Bangkok to promote development in Thailand and across Asia. In 1964, the Foundation and TICA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) designating TICA as a primary partner in Thailand. This collaboration has facilitated the Foundation's efforts to expand cooperation with other agencies across Thailand.
The reception provided a good opportunity for engagement in insightful discussions on various topics that will lead to sustainable finance, climate resilience, and women's empowerment. These conversations laid pathways towards future collaborations on a more sustainable world. A heartfelt thank you to all attendees! Let's continue working together to create positive change and global partnerships for a better world.
