Today (28 July 2023), His Excellency Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, attended the opening ceremony of the much-anticipated "Orchid Extravaganza 2023: Orchids of the East Tropics" officially launched by Mr. Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, and Second Minister for Law and Mr. Felix Goh, Chief Executive Officer of Gardens by the Bay.

"Orchid Extravaganza 2023: Orchids of the East Tropics" is a collaborative effort between Gardens by the Bay and the Royal Thai Embassy, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam, and the High Commission of Malaysia. This collective endeavor has brought to life a showcase of orchids cultivated from species native to their respective countries or shared within the region. Another highlight is the showcase of Kebaya, a traditional outfit jointly nominated for recognition in the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list by Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and Singapore. This nomination reinforces the shared cultural heritage and historical legacy that unites the five countries.
