On 14 April 2013, H.E. Mr. Marut Jitpatima, Ambassador of Thailand, opened the Songkran Festival at the Thai Labour Association headquarters, third floor, Golden Mile Complex, organised for the third time by the Thai Labour Assocation since 2011.

The event began with the Ambassador giving a speech and blessing to members of the Thai Labour Association, who have significantly contributed to strengthening the Thai Community in Singapore and supporting the work of the Royal Thai Embassy, by carrying out various activities throughout the years, including conducting training courses to improve various skills of its members. This was followed by the water pouring ceremony on the Buddha Image, and members of the Thai Labour Association taking turn to pour water on the Ambassador’s hands, as a part of the Thai New Year tradition to pay a respect to senior members of the family or the society.

On this occasion, the Ambassador also presented certificates to members of the Association who graduated from the various training courses provided by the Association, including the Fruit Crafting Course, Flower Garland-Making Course, and Male Hair-Cutting Course.
