On 9 May 2024, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, upon her assumption of duty.
Both sides reiterated cordial and longstanding relations between Thailand and Singapore, which dates back before the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1965. Thailand and Singapore have long fostered close cooperation in various areas, especially economic and defence. The Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP) remains a significant mechanism of bilateral cooperation, in which Thailand will host the 14th CSEP meeting in Bangkok in June 2024. H.E. Dr. Balakrishnan will pay an official visit to Thailand to attend the said meeting. They also welcomed the exchanges of high-level visits in order to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Thailand - Singapore diplomatic relations in 2025.
In addition, both sides exchanged views on regional issues, such as situation in Myanmar, ASEAN integration and unity, as well as future-oriented regional cooperation, including the ASEAN Power Grid and linkage of real-time payment systems.
