On 30 May 2024, H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore welcomed Professor Wisit Wisitsora-at, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand at the Ambassador’s residence, during his visit to Singapore to attend the Asia Tech x Singapore 2024 from 29 – 31 May 2024.

Both sides discussed on the issues of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) development in Thailand and a closer international cooperation with Singapore and ASEAN, especially in anti-online scams and government technology.

Ambassador Ureerat commended the digital economy cooperation between Thailand and Singapore, which reflects the growing recognition of the transformative potential of technology in driving economic growth and fostering closer ties between nations. Furthermore, Thailand has expressed its interest to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA) initiated by Singapore which would help moving forward digital economy and its ecosystem in Thailand.

As Thailand and Singapore prepare to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2025, DEPA serves as a symbol of the enduring partnership and shared vision for a digitally-enabled future.
