On 28 May 2024, Mr. Lennon Tan, CEO of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) and senior representatives paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore at the Royal Thai Embassy, to introduce the SMF and discuss on possible collaborations to promote business partnership in various industries between Thailand and Singapore.
The SMF has been established for over 92 years. It serves as a representative body for more than 500 member companies across 10 industries in Singapore. It offers essential business advice and facilitates governmental support and assistance, while also administering the issuance of Certificates of Origin within Singapore.
Both sides discussed on economic cooperation between Thailand and Singapore and a more tangible project to organize Singapore business delegation in targeted industries to conduct business matching and explore investment opportunities in Thailand such as clean energy, digital economy, sustainability, healthy food, food technology, etc.
Ambassador Ureerat expressed her keen interest in fostering closer collaboration between Thailand and Singapore. The Embassy and SMF can explore ways to deepen partnership, including the organizing of investment sessions targeted at Singaporean investors seeking to expand in the Thai market.
