On 27 March 2025, H.E. Ureerat Charoentoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, along with the Embassy staff, visited Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School (AISS), one of only three secondary schools in Singapore that accommodate visually impaired (VI) students alongside sighted students.
The visit aimed to observe and learn about the school’s exemplary programs, particularly its initiatives dedicated to the education and empowerment of VI students. A key highlight was a discussion with Mr. Goh Soon Hoe, Principal of AISS, and his team, as well as the observation of a teaching session conducted by Ms. Chong Chew Luan Penny, a distinguished recipient of the Princess Maha Chakri Award. This prestigious award recognizes educators who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of education, especially for marginalized students.
The Embassy commends Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School’s approach, centered on "Equip, Enable, Empower," which focuses on preparing VI students for future success through an integrated secondary education in a mainstream environment. The school’s belief that "visual impairment is not a hindrance but a challenge" and its recognition that "the real problem of blindness is not the loss of eyesight, but the misunderstanding and lack of education" align with the Royal Thai Embassy’s commitment to promoting inclusive education and equal opportunities for all.
