General Charoenchai Hinthao, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, and his delegation paid an official visit to the Republic of Singapore from 15-16 August 2024. During the visit, the Commander-in-Chief had a courtesy call and discussion with Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defence; Vice Admiral Aaron Beng, Chief of Defence Force, and Major General David Neo, Chief of Army.
On this occasion, H.E. Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, attended the ceremony in which General Charunchai Hinthao was awarded the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) - the Meritorious Service Medal (Military). This prestigious award recognizes General Charoenchai's outstanding service as a senior leader of a friendly nation and his significant role in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cooperation between the two armies, symbolizing the enhanced collaboration between the armed forces of the two countries.
Ambassador Ureerat also hosted a luncheon in honor of the Commander-in-Chief, during which they discussed military cooperation between the Royal Thai Army and the Singapore Army namely, joint exercises such as Kocha Singa and Flash Thunder, support for educational opportunities in cadet courses, junior and senior officer courses, staff courses, and cyber courses. These efforts aim to enhance knowledge and capabilities of the personnel from both armies in addressing future threats and modernizing the armed forces in order to achieve regional security.
